PUNCHBAG’s debut EP, I'm Not Your Punchbag, is an unrelenting, high-voltage statement of intent. Out 2 May 2025 via Mute, the release cements the South London sibling duo’s reputation for boundary-pushing pop with a raw punk spirit.
Following the breakout success of their debut single Fuck It—described by Stereogum as “Icona Pop’s I Love It colliding with Basement Jaxx’s Where’s Your Head At”—Clara and Anders Bach return with four more tracks of electrifying, maximalist pop.
The title track, I'm Not Your Punchbag, is a razor-sharp anthem of defiance, born from an offhand remark that cut deep. “It started with something small but grew into a refusal to let people dump their shit on you,” says Clara. The duo’s name itself stems from this song, encapsulating their ethos of catharsis through sound.
Swinging between dizzying extremes, the EP lurches from sugar-sweet pop hooks to leftfield sonic chaos—always delivered with a fierce, infectious energy. Having already built a reputation for frenetic, unfiltered live performances, PUNCHBAG are set to bring their cathartic pop-punk chaos to Ritual Union Festival in Bristol on 29 March and The Great Escape in May.
